India’s first test tube baby is Kanupriya Agarwal (nicknamed “Durga”), born on October 3, 1978, in Kolkata, just 67 days after the world’s first IVF baby. The pioneering physician behind this achievement was Dr. Subhash Mukhopadhyay, who pioneered in-vitro fertilization and embryo freezing, though he was not recognized in his lifetime.
